As of September 2016, Samsung has released the new Galaxy J7 Prime. Samsung has been receiving a lot of bad press lately due to the overheating of their battery in the new Note 7, but the J7 Prime is a high quality Samsung smartphone for about $350. The smartphone runs on the GSM, HSPA and LTE networks.
The J7 Prime weighs just under 6 ounces and is roughly 6 x 3 x .31 inches in size. It’s a stylish looking design coming in Black and Gold color options. The USB is microUSB v2.0, USB On-The-Go support. The smartphone features Vibration, MP3 and WAV ringtones as alert types, and has a loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack.
This Samsung smartphone has a dedicated microSD card slot which supports up to 256 GB. The internal memory on this unit is 32 GB, with 3 GB of RAM. The primary camera on the J7 Prime is a 13 Megapixel with an LED flash and autofocus, as well as f/1.9, 28mm. Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama views and HDR are all features that are supported by this smartphone.
The Video shoots at 1080p @ 30 feet per second. The secondary camera is 8 Megapixels with f/1.9, and LED flash supported. The display type is IPS LCD with a beautiful capacitive touchscreen. This allows for 16M brilliant colors, and a very clear 5.5 inch display size. The display resolution is robust at
1080 x 1920 pixels and the smartphone has multitouch features with a sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection around it.
The J7 Prime samsung smartphone runs on the Android OS, using Marshmallow, version 6.0.1. The chipset is the impressive Exynos 7870 Octa and the CPU is the Octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53. Possibly the strongest feature however on this smartphone is the battery. It is a solid Non-removable Li-Ion 3300 mAh battery, which features impressive talk times of up to 21 hours (3G). Music play can be up to 84 hours, which is noteworthy and compares favorably with the iPhone 6s (80 hours of music play).
