Well the final 12 is set for the NFL playoffs beginning this weekend. Let’s take a look at the remaining teams and make a few predictions. The teams that have qualified for the 2019 NFL playoffs are as follows:
AFC Division winners…….
Kansas City (bye)
New England (bye)
AFC wild card teams…….
Los Angeles Chargers
NFC Division winners…….
New Orleans (bye)
Los Angeles (bye)
NFC wild card teams…….
Let’s start with the AFC.
Saturday’s first game is Indy (10-6) at Houston (11-5). They have played twice this year and both games went down to the wire. It’s a tough one to call but we will stick with Indy here as they are on a great roll and Andrew Luck is back in form like the old days. This could be a high scoring affair, and we’ll take Luck to deliver the goods in the end. Indy 30 Houston 26.
Saturday night’s game is Seattle (10-6) at Dallas (10-6). Seattle has been very unpredictable and erratic all year. Despite the fact that it’s tough to bet against Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll, we are going to stick with the home team on this one. The Cowboys have been somewhat brilliant this year on a few occasions, and we think they are due for a big playoff win at home. Both teams possess tough defenses, but the defense in big D is faster, and in the end should make the difference. Dallas 23 Seattle 16.
Sunday’s early game features a tremendous match of the high octane Los Angeles Chargers (12-4) versus one of the best defense’s in the league this year, the Baltimore Ravens (10-6). This is a tough one to call. The Chargers are the stronger team, but the Ravens have a solid defense and they have the home crowd. We expect this one to go down to the wire……Ravens 20 Chargers 17.
Sunday’s late game will have the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles (9-7) versus the Chicago Bears (12-4). Despite the fact that Nick Foles is back in business at the helm of the Eagles, and despite the fact that the Eagles have closed strong and largely have the same team that won the title last year…..this remains a VERY difficult challenge to come into Soldier Field and defeat the team that we think has the best defense in the league, the Chicago Bears. Unless Foles is red hot and throws for 3 to 4 TDs, we think Chicago is going to shut down the Eagles and advance. Bears 23 Eagles 13.
We will return next week with our picks for the next round as the NFL playoffs for 2019 roll on !
