The Google Pixel 2 smartphone was released in October of 2017. It’s the company’s 2nd year of making smartphones, and they are being well received. Today we take a look at some of the more interesting features of the Pixel 2. The body of this smartphone is metal with a matte premium hybrid coating.
It has 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and is water and dust resistant certified at IP67 standards. Don’t go swimming with this smartphone, but if you drop it in deeper water for a few seconds it should survive.
The display is 5″ AMOLED and the resolution is excellent at 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. The display goes nearly edge to edge. The Google Pixel 2 display is smaller than the Pixel 2 XL, and you won’t get the color quality on the Pixel as you would with a Samsung.
The rear camera is 12.2MP with dual LED flash, while the front camera is 8MP with 1.4µm pixel size.
The video is 2160p @ 30fpx with 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720@240fps; and the front camera:1080p @ 30fps. The operating system is Android 8.0 Oreo and it will get updated for you directly from Google.
The chipset is the outstanding 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU and it comes with 4GB of RAM with 64/128GB of internal storage which is non-expandable. The battery is a 2,700 mAh Li-ion. The smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner and dual stereo speakers with active edge squeeze detection.
There is no headset jack on these phones which can be a little troubling, but you do get 2 dual front speakers, which you may find will take the place of your Bluetooth from time to time. The Bluetooth is 5.0 and that will help you avoid stutters with your audio.
The Google Pixel 2 smartphone in many ways is a simple throwback smartphone, but it’s very efficient and simple to use, and has high quality standards. It’s a little pricey at about $650 but you won’t be disappointed with the performance.
