News Feed in Facebook’s operates on extremely well put in place algorithms, but at times, they may even fail. Thus, arise situations where your feed is full of updates from people you do not know well, or even pages you are not interested in so much. In time, a increasingly number of people have complained about this.
After countless likes canceled and unfollows, those from Facebook seems to have heard finally the claims of their service users. Generally, Facebook selects about one fifth of the entire content which was posted in the period a user was not active. Selection is based on several important criteria: the type of content that you clicked in the past, how often you interact with certain people and how popular are the followed pages.
During the last month, however, the social network started testing a new feature, called “See First”. This allows anyone to select persons and pages whose posts will appear first in the News Feed. Probably the most important thing is that everyone can use the “See First” extremely easy, with no need for a major effort of a person. Web version and the applications for iOS and Android have received the update with “See First”, only on Android it gets later, the option to prioritize which pages or people appear first.
To choose to see information mainly from a person or a page, you go to that profile and on Following choose See First. Default Option is based on the Facebook algorithm. Once you have done this, the page should look as seen below. Benefits, apparently, would be great for everyone, but especially for users.
How it works on iOS?
If you have an Apple device, you can choose, as I said above, which pages or people are ahead of others. The first thing you should do is to give a lower right click on the “More” button. From the list that will appear later, you will have to select “News Feed Preferences” and then the “Prioritize who to see first” option. Here you can see a list of friends and pages you appreciate. A click on one of these will add a blue star to the icon, meaning that person or page now has priority over the rest. You can do this as many times as you want, but it is advisable to limit yourself to a certain number, otherwise “See First” loses its purpose.
How do we use “See First” in the browser on PC
Facebook users through the site will have to visit the homepage, and then move the cursor on “News Feed” on the left. Near this option there will show a round icon, which you will have to click. At that moment there will be shown preferences about the feed. People, pages, groups, applications, hide – all can be viewed. Near each appears “Following”, and if you put the mouse arrow on this button, it will show you the options “See First” and “Unfollow.” Simply select “See First” on all-items you are interested in, and you’re done.
