Sharp has announced the creation of a 5.5 inch mobile phone display that is truly remarkable.
Top mobile smartphones in the next few years should have 4K screens. That’s what the Japanese from Sharp thought, so they started working on that idea.
Now they have ready a 5.5 inch display, with a 3840 x 2160p resolution, that means 800 pixels per inch. There are people who say you do not need so much precision on a smartphone screen, however it’s hard to predict what people are willing to pay in the high end marketplace.
The phone is in stark contrast to the world’s cheapest smartphone, reviewed here.
In a first phase, 4K screen phones will be only for the Chinese market, and it will take a long time until the rest of the world will have access to this technology.
Displays like these come with a spectacular screen, it’s true, but it also needs high graphic processing power, and also a proper battery, as ZDNet.com people write. Stay tuned to this story as the months go on to see what this smartphone eventually becomes in future generations.
