Acer is one of the manufacturers active on the converted into laptop tablet market, under the brand Aspire Switch.
The new models were presented in a event held in New York, and for the moment Acer has unveiled two 10 ” convertible tablets, that address a diverse public. In addition, there will be a series of premium models with 11.6 and 12.5 inches diagonal screens, and hardware platforms powered by Intel Core M.

Acer Aspire Switch 11 V
The Switch 11 V is a total redesign of the switch 11, that’s already on the market. Acer has opted for a metal case, Intel Core M hardware platform and an IPS display with FHD resolution. Also included are a 45W battery that will help this model to overcome the autonomy of any other similar convertible available in stores now.
On the other hand, the metal case and the large battery make Switch 11V some heavier and thicker than other premium tablets such as Asus Transformer Book Chi T300. But the options offered and the good price that we expect this model to reach the market with(around 500 $), may make this mini laptop interesting to many of you.
Acer Aspire Switch 10 – premium compact convertible
The most attractive convertible in the new range is Acer Aspire Switch 10. We’re talking about a tablet with premium design and look. The device comes with Windows 8.1 operating system and uses an IPS screen diagonal of 10.1 “, full HD 1920 × 1200 pixels resolution and digitizer, whose surface is protected with Gorilla Glass 3.
The hardware platform is an Intel Atom chipset, but Acer did not yet revealed exactly what model that is. We know that the tablet will have 2GB of RAM and Intel HD graphics, while the storage memory is either 32 or 64GB.
The tablet can be connected to a docking station that includes keyboard, and an optional hard drive with capacity up to 1TB. Keyboard is Chicklet type and includes well spaced keys, the touchpad supports 6 types of gestures. In terms of connectivity, is equipped with a USB 2.0 port, a microUSB 2.0 port and a microHDMI port. The operating system comes with Microsoft Office 365 Personal suite valid for 1 year.
Acer Aspire Switch 10E is a more affordable convertible addressed especially to those who need the best possible autonomy. It is equipped with an IPS screen with a diagonal of 10 “, with 1280 × 800 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
As the case of Switch 10 hardware platform consists of Intel Atom chipset with Intel HD graphics whose exact configuration has not been disclosed, but in this case we are talking about a diversification of options also depending on RAM: 1 GB RAM or 2 GB RAM.
Also, users can choose between the version with 32 GB or 64 GB of storage memory. Even though it has the same diagonal as Switch 10, the 10E integrates a 30 Whr Li-Ion battery that achieves a formal autonomy of up to 12 hours.
The system that attaches the keyboard to the display is the same as in the case of Switch 10, and the keyboard is identical and provides the same range of ports. Acer Aspire Switch 10E will be available on the European market beginning this May, 2015.
